The Men in Harmony, an all-male
chorus, was the dream of the late Charles Kindt, of
Halifax, PA. Chuck was always active in church
music, and most faithful to his Lord. He envisioned
a fraternity of Chistian brothers from area
churches, gathering to give glory to their Lord
through their combined commitment to witness in
song. The first concert was held at a local
Strawberry Festival in during the summer of 2000.
The chorus provides Christian men, of various ages, with an
outlet to use their love of music to promote the gospel of Jesus Christ.
They have opportunity to sing, monthly, from March through December in
various venues throughout central Pennsylvania. A variety of musical
styles are included in their yearly concerts, with their musical content
shifting from general to Christmas for the holiday season. All the content
of their concert selections is either Christian or patriotic, with a goal of
honoring their God.
Since their inception in 2000, Men in Harmony has ministered
in many churches, Christian camp settings, and public platforms, including
a spirited rendition of the National Anthem at professional baseball games.
The personnel have evolved through the twenty-five years, but the goal of
their ministry has remained true to original vision.
The organization has more than thirty members on their roster,
from many churches and denominations. They rehearse twice a month on
Monday evenings, and, seek to sing once a month. The only exception is
during the holiday where they seek to sing their Christmas concert in two
or three locations. A wholehearted invitation is extended to all men to
join MiH as musical ambassadors. All you need is a desire to sing, a
commitment to the Lord, and a willingness to share the common goals of
MiH.
Men in Harmony is always open to welcoming new
members, from high school age and up. Generally, they practice in
Elizabethville, PA on the second and fourth Monday evenings from late
January through December, from 7 until 9pm. The chorus is an excellent
means of men’s fellowship and spiritual growth. There is an occasional
gathering that includes spouses. Their goal is always musical excellence
with a positive Christian witness. The chorus averages only one concert
per month, from March through December, as respect is given, regarding
the time spent away from families. Speak to a member at a concert or
contact MiH through their webpage.
